Graduation....any last requests?

Hey all...

I have noticed how long it's been since I last blogged. Well tough shit, I've been busy, so get off my back already.

Aside from that little note, I just wanted to use this time to comment on the surrealism of graduation..even like the third time around. Especially since it's the second time I'm wondering what the hell I'm gonna be doing after this semester ends.

It's somewhat exciting getting all these things done, thinking that in approximately 12 weeks I'm gonna be moving back out on my own again, looking forward to only 40 hour weeks with a job that I get vacation and holidays with, not to mention dental, medical, vision, (boy did I take that for granted last time around) and hopefully a few other fringe benefits.

Knowing you are purposefully turning your life on it's head and starting over at the age of 28 is not exactly comforting, though. At 22 or 23 when you've got another 5 or 10 years before someone actually expects you to do something serious with your life, it's easy, you've got time to slack and not worry about how much you are putting in your 401k, or how little these bastards are paying you to do the same job some other schmuck has been doing for 10 years and is getting $20k/yr more for.

Rants about taking a $35k/yr job at 28 aside, starting again is gonna be interesting this time around. I feel like I've got so much to do with so little time to do it this time around. The fact that my older bro was going back to get his Masters degree at my age, or the fact that he's probably easily pulling down 6 figures right now doesn't make me feel any easier. I feel like I am under the gun to find a house and a wife to fill it, with time ticking away each day after graduation, and why can't I just do it 'The Secret of My Success" style, just fake my way into a executive job with a 7 figure salary, with a company limo, pension w/401k on top, penthouse in downtown NYC, all that crap.

Ok. Stop ranting now.

Anyway, I'm trying to plan a graduation party, but I'm not sure exactly when the ceremony is, so the date is TBD. As is what exactly the party will be, or where it will be. More to come later. I'm guessing it'll be roughly sometime around the 4th of July, since the last day of class is June 25th. Bring your party hats, it'll be a good'un.

Anyhow, I'll try to post here more often. I'll keep you guys informed as to why I'm never around doing anything. 'Til Then....
